Omarosa Manigault Newman is no stranger to controversy, and now she has Trump staffers quaking in their Manolo Blahniks and Testonis.
“People are terrified,” said one former Trump aide, speaking of the tapes. “Absolutely terrified.”
Commonly known simply as Omarosa, the former reality-TV starlet has released a slow leak of what she claims are secretly taped conversations that came from inside the Trump campaign and presidency. In response, the president has consistently tweeted that she’s a liar and called her “that dog” and a “crazed, crying lowlife.”
So is what she’s saying true?
Most news sources are very clear: They’re unable to verify that the people Manigault Newman claims are on the other ends of the tapes are who she says they is. However, in some cases, the voices are recognizable.
What Manigault Newman Has Leaked
A series of recordings that Manigault Newman obtained while working on the Trump campaign and in the White House are what’s capturing most of the news media’s attention, but she’s also written a book, Unhinged.
So far, Manigault Newman has claimed:
- Trump used derogatory language toward African-Americans on the set of his television show, The Apprentice, and a tape exists of him using it
- The Trump administration offered her a job paying $15,000 per month in return for her silence after leaving the White House
- She has talked to special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation into potential collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign
Since appearing on The Apprentice, Manigault Newman has appeared on other reality television shows, including The Ultimate Merger, Celebrity Apprentice and Celebrity Big Brother, as well as several late-night shows and newscasts, prompting critics to say she’s simply seeking attention.
