a futuristic taxi pod service that could make him our century’s Henry Ford if he’s successful. His transportation pods, which weigh 300 pounds each, run suspended on magnetic rails. He’ll unveil his taxi pods at the Israel Aerospace Industries campus near the end of the year.
If the 400-meter demonstration goes smoothly, the city of Tel Aviv may switch over to his hovering taxis within the next 3 years.
Sanders, a former Navy SEAL with degrees in law and socio-economics, plans to expand his business into Europe, Asia, and the U.S. Multimillion-dollar endorsements from sponsors such as Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, are pouring in.
Speculators like Schmidt recognize that a SkyTran does more than just provide its riders with an exhilarating panoramic view. Although detractors claim that SkyTran will have no presence in areas with a lower population due to a lack of demand, supporters point out that the pods can reach up to two hundred miles per hour and require merely a third of the power as a hybrid car to operate, which saves cities money.
There is also a convenience factor: the pods do not need a driver, and if you need a ride, you can simply summon one using your Smartphone – no more waving your arms or whistling.
If SkyTran does gain a global presence, cities may have found a solution to classic urban problems like traffic congestion, overcrowded subways, and pedestrian injuries.
